Welcome to the Glasgow University European Society blog! This is a space where we will be sharing information about current European political and social issues, our upcoming society events and any other opportunities for you to get involved with us.

Firstly, if you are new to Glasgow University this year - congratulations and welcome! The Freshers Fair is a great opportunity for you to meet new people, engage in issues that you are passionate about or just try out a new thing for the first time. We hope that you choose to get involved with us, GES, as you start off this next exciting chapter of your life.

GES is a student-run society that caters to all those interested in the culture, economies and politics of Europe and the European Union. We run academic events throughout the year which bring together a host of fantastic guest speakers to discuss pressing contemporary issues including LGBTQ+ rights, vaccine passports, and the rule of law within Europe. We are also always open to suggestions about potential academic events or collaborations with other societies. Furthermore, we host a wide array of engaging social events such as pub crawls and pop quizzes. It's a great way to make some new friends rath

Our Freshers Fair stall this year is number 77, so come along and meet some of our excellent board for more information. We will be hosting our first pub crawl of the year on the 16th - but be warned, it has a surprise twist! Our first academic event focused on the development of LGBTQ+ rights in Eastern Europe will be hosted within the next two weeks, so keep an eye out for more updates as they come. We are active on Facebook (@GlasgowEU) and Instagram (@gueuropeansoc) too so give us a follow if you'd like regular updates!

Thank you for taking the time to check out our work - we really appreciate that our hard work that we put into this blog, other social media and our events gets the recognition and support it deserves, and we would love for you all to join us too. Our 2021-2022 is coming We look forward to seeing you both for our online academic events and in person throughout the upcoming year!
